Blog for 3/26/08

Today in class we presented our technology lesson plans, and I had mine all planned out perfectly in my head, but when it came time to present it didn't come out as fluently. However, i'm pretty sure that most, if not all, of the class got the basic idea behind it. The rest of the class did a terrific job once again, I'm always amazed at how clever all of my classmates are. I think were all going to be great teacher's once we start our teaching career. This class also brought us one step closer to the end of the semester in a great class, this has been my most productive/interesting education class to date. I thought this class would be like the other technology education class, which was not useful at all, this class however was very important to becoming a good education teacher.

Blog for 3/5/08

This week in class we had a guest speaker and it was actually a very exciting class for me. I had resented this class for a while fearing that the guest speaker would be extremely boring, but that was not the case. Every bit of information that she told us was very important and very useful for our future teaching careers. She was also seemed very personal, given the very impersonal format in which she was talking to us. It was just amazing, i don't know why i was so amazed by it, but that is definitely another hightlight of this class for me. great job professor williams

Blog for 2/20/08

Today we presented our video presentations, I once again chose to do animorphs using a beast wars clip as my video. Surprisingly nobody was really familiar with the clip, I actually don't think anybody was familiar at all with it. I guess that understandable its off the air, but it was pretty popular, I knew I should've used a clip of pokemon instead. Everybody had very good presentations, some were kind of violent, which I have no problem with, but as far as the parents, thats a different story. The idea was put out for those people to just send home permission request for the students parents to sign, brilliant.

Its 3am and I can't sleep, why am I blogging? I should be in bed sleeping. I'm listening to that new female singer leona lewis, she's really good.....zzzzzzzzz but, back to the point, I chose beast wars because I love that show although I kind of knew nobody would of heard about it

Blog for 2/13/08

In todays class we presented our webquest, and I just knew that everybody was looking forward to my presentation considering I had the book everybody was eager to hear more about, Animorphs. As I walked to front of the classroom I could feel the anxiety of my classmates, questioning me with their eyes wondering/hoping that I did my webquest on Animorphs. I booted up my presentation and the crowd erupted in joy, laugther, applauds, and I did my presentaion and wowed everyone. Well, thats how everything went in my head what can I say. But, seriously I think my presentation of the webquest went really well, as well as everybody else's. The presentation that stuck out to me the most however, was kindra's. The use of a peach as a mango was simply brillian and hilarious.

Blog for 2/6/2008

In class today we discussed web quest. I had never heard of webquest before this class, and I am very glad that it was introduced to me as they very fun to do, and I am sure it is just as fun for the students to complete. Webquest can be done on almost anything, but must have some kind of quest aspect to it. I decided to do my webquest on the ever popular Animorphs series, I had lots of plans what to with this book right away. I thought that the assignment would be boring, but this was the most fun assignment, in my opinion, all semester. I loved designing my webquest, I showed it off to everyone possible; roommates, friends, other teachers, everyone. I will definitely be using webquest in my classroom when I become a teacher, with any luck I can teach it to my class and have them do assignment similar to what we did in class.

Blog for 1/23/2008

In today's class we worked as group to discuss internet safety with the students that we teach, we also did an assignment on this that we submitted to blackboard. This activity proved to be far more insightful than I could've ever imagined. There are many guidlines and rules that teachers have to follow about internet safety that I never knew about; its all a bit scary. The students safety must always be considered before assigning an internet assignment, but not only the students safety, but your job safety as well. If a students accidently gets into a website he/she should not be on and you did not specify for them not to this, the teacher can get very big trouble. This lesson also help me learn about the possibilities as to why teacher's, for the most part, should not have facebook or myspace when they become professionals. This can be very dangerous for many different reasons. As the case happen in a movie where a teacher had a bikini on and lost her job because students were able to locate the picture of her.

About Todays class (1/16/08)

Today's class focused on the topic of power point presentations. I really hate using power point, not because I find it boring or anything, but simply because I really, for the most part, don't know how to use it. I know the basics such as; write in this box, insert clip art here, and change the background to this color. But, as far inserting moving clip art and making it all fancy and wonderful, that I am not capable of. I do, however, like when I am forced to do powerpoint. That way it forces me to learn some new things about that, most of which I probably would have never learned had it not been for the assignment. I also really enjoyed the instructors enthusiam about using powerpoint and how useful and resourceful it can be in classroom. Her enthusiam motivated me to learn as much as possible about powerpoint.

About today's class

Today's class proved to be much more interesting and time consuming than I thought. I didn't mind the time consumption so much, I did however really enjoye the spontaneous moments of fun that occured during the class period. The course load seems to be more strenuous than that of EME 2040, but then again i guess thats to be expected considering this is a higher level class. I've never really blogged, although I do post on videogame websites; is that blogging? I don't know, maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but regardless blogging should be quite fun if its anything like posting on videogame websites.
